Northside Mural

I don't know if its the fact that I grew up near Philadelphia, a city known for its murals, or the fact that I just love all kinds of public art, but I am constantly inspired by murals. I particularly love this one done in the Northside called the Children's Alphabet Garden. So clever and adorable.

I think I would be supremely happy if I could spend the rest of my life painting murals with children in gardens.

I Art SA Community Mural Project

The I Art SA Community Mural Project is a collaboration of artists working in two South African neighborhoods, Woodstock and Soweto, to promote creativity and inspiration. The murals they create bring members of the community together to appreciate and experience art while artists themselves hope to draw attention to the original culture of each neighborhood and celebrate local artists in that community. This is the kind of work that truly inspires me. One of my biggest beliefs about art is that it creates community and as is clear with this project it not only creates community but also celebrates it.

A Love Letter For You

Since this week was a pretty slow blogging week, I have a few different things I want to share with you today (and the time to actually do it, hooray for spring break!). First off, A Love Letter For You. This is a great series of murals by Stephen Powers and the City Of Philadelphia Mural Arts Program. There really is no better city for murals than Philly.
