Anyway, I figured I would share some of my earth art today (I can't believe I haven't posted any of it before) because it seems like a fitting topic. I created these pieces (they had a name when they were on display at the student gallery in the Frick Fine Arts building, but I can't remember what it was...I think it may have been something like "Manchester: Restored, Renewed, Reclaimed") in Manchester which is one of my favorite areas of Pittsburgh. There are a lot of abandoned lots and houses in that neighborhood which inspired me to do something that would allow those abandoned spaces to become something else and to hopefully use these works to show members of the community what could be done in their neighborhood. The project was a complete success. I made good friends with some children from Tanzania and a few other older members of the community.
Happy friday.

ReplyDeletecorrection: leaves that are formed :-) xoxoo
ReplyDeletethank you! You know what's funny, the leaf design was never intentionally an elephant, but every single person that has seen it has said it looks like one... :)
